SAKAI CITY — Lilies at Yuri-no-Sato Park (ゆりの里公園) in Japan’s Fukui Prefecture are reaching full bloom. The free-admission park boasts 150,000 lilies of some 20 varieties in shades of white, pink, orange, and red. The annual “Yuri Festa” event will be held through June 30th, featuring special performances, activities, and food trucks every weekend.

Sakai’s official mascot Hoyamaru (ほや丸) made an appearance on Saturday, June 6th. The orange Pomeranian delighted visitors by posing for photos and interacting with fans. Hoyamaru placed fourth in the national Yurubirth 2025 mascot competition. A flower wall modeled after the character is also on display at the park.

In addition to the lily garden, Yuri-no-Sato Park offers a flower shop, a children’s playground, a water-play area, a dog park, a barbeque grill area (by reservation), the strawberry-themed Ichigooji Cafe, and the Yuriichi Sakai City Farmers Market. Visitors can also enjoy illuminations and projection mapping from sunset to 21:00 (9:00 PM).

Peak bloom is expected to last through mid-June, making this the best time of year to visit Yuri-no-Sato Park. The park is open daily during the festival, from 9:00 to 21:30 (9:30 PM). For more information, follow Yuri-no-Sato Park on Instagram.
